Which are better for a house fluorescent light-bulbs or LED lights?

in a perfect world LEDs but they're more expensive and they don't work well in most situations. You can't put them in a lamp or in a chandelier because they are too small. The only place i know you deffinately should get LEDs is christmas lights, they produce a lot of heat for their size and that causes fires not to mention they save electricity and look cool. Fluorescent light bulbs also contain a small amount of mercury making them a pain to get rid of when they burn out, also some take a few minutes to get bright enough.
