What was the reason for Mitch Kupchak trading Caron Butler/Chucky Atkins for Kwame Brown?

The trade was actually Kwame Brown and Laron Profit for Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins. People forget that Laron Profit was part of that trade. Anyway I don't really know why he made that trade but it has now benefited the Lakers. My guess would be because we needed a Center. All we had was Bynum and Mihm and we had many forwards at the time (Lamar Odom, Luke Walton, Brian Cook, Devean George, Jumaine Jones, etc..)
