Summer job in redmond, live in U district or east side?

It's very easy to find a place to sublet in the U district, but not nearly so easy in redmond. I don't have a car and my main worry is bussing to redmond. I plan to bike to the montlake station and taking the 545 there. I ume that the busses are able to make the trek in a reasonable amount of time with some consistency. If I found a place within a few miles of downtown redmond, I'd just bike it. I don't know anyone in Redmond, but I do have some friends staying in the U district. Which do you think would be a better choice?
