My rights as a tenant?

I am living in Dublin, Ireland in a 2 bed apartment that has been nothing but trouble since we moved in. From the place being broken into because of cheap door lock to the roof needing to be relaced and mould covering the walls, its just a nightmare. The landlord has been less than helpful since we moved in in October. He wants us to vacate the place for at least 3 days to fix the leak in the ceilings and replaster the walls but is unwilling to compensate us for this or reduce the rent. my boyfriend called him today and the landlord was verbally abusive calling him names and being needlessly rude. We now want rid of the place but our lease isnt up untill end of June. We plan on giving him a months notice and leaving this time next month. Where do we stand in terms of getting our deposit back even though we are cutting the lease short?
